Message from Hugh Osgood - 27 March
Dear fellow CiC Ministers,
It is good to be able to stay in touch with each other during our current challenges and I am grateful for all that Trevor, Paul, Tony and Jeremy are doing to keep key information circulating among us.
I want you to know that there is a large amount of prayer backing you up in all that you are doing right now, whether you are caring for a church, serving through a ministry or carrying out difficult assignments as a chaplain in the community, in prisons, in healthcare or in the military.
These are not easy times and to some extent we are all having to work intuitively.
There are many Scriptures I could share with you but Paul's words in Galatians 6:9 come to mind:
And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.
God is not anti-weariness. We know that Jesus Himself grew tired.
I think, though, that there is a tiredness IN doing good and a tiredness OF doing good. It's the latter we have to avoid, and we will if we continue to be open to the Lord's refreshing through each other's love and prayers.
Looking more carefully at the verse, it may be difficult at the moment to see what we shall reap from this current phase of givenness to each other and care for one another, but I chose to quote from the NKJV as it prioritises our hearts, and I know that our hearts are a top priority with God Himself as He continues to bring comfort, healing and hope.
I will continue to pray that God will strengthen us as we seek to serve Him faithfully and wholeheartedly.
Yours,
Hugh Osgood
CiC President
P.S. I have been asked if I could provide a 5 minute clip for some church's on-line services. I will try to do this but meanwhile if you do need more general content, please feel free to use anything on my YouTube channel.
